He has more Slams today, but well see in 15 years, Holger Rune confident he can win more Ma

Danish star Holger Rune has not had a good run this season. Ranked World No. 4 in August last year, he has now dropped to 15th in the rankings thanks to this poor run. Despite that, he is confident he can surpass Carlos Alcaraz’s Grand Slam tally by the end of his career.

Rune has fallen short of expectations this year. He began the season reaching the Brisbane International final, where he lost to Grigor Dimitrov. He failed to replicate the form at the Australian Open, where he made a second-round exit. The youngster’s best results after that are three semifinal finishes, with the last one coming at the Munich Open in April.

Rune has won four titles in his career so far, while Carlos Alcaraz has fourteen titles to his name already, including three Majors. Despite that, he is confident that he can do as well as the Spaniard on the ATP tour in the future.

I don’t want to say that me, Sinner and Alcaraz are the new big 3, that would be wrong but many have talked about it and it’s positive. Carlos is fantastic physically, Sinner shoots very well, I think I read the game well. Alcaraz has more Slam today, but we’ll see in 15 years.

Alcaraz has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon after beating American Frances Tiafoe in five sets. Meanwhile, Rune plays his third-round match against Quentin Halys on Saturday (July 6).

Holger Rune hopes to do well at Wimbledon despite poor form

Holger Rune admits he has high ambitions at Wimbledon despite not being at his best right now. He came into the tournament on the back of a first-round defeat to Jordan Thompson at the Queen’s Club Championships.

In London, Rune won his first-round match against Soonwoo Kwon in straight sets and then defeated Thiago Seyboth Wild 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the third round without any major hiccups.

I still have the same belief and there is still hope for the tournament as I would have if I was higher seeded. I have extremely high ambitions for myself and I will try to live up to them.

Last year, Rune equaled his best Grand Slam result by reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. With the youngster currently having a 24-13 win-loss record this season, he will be hoping to a few steps further at the grass Major this season.
