NAMI Idaho enhances support for local residents
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — 1 in 20 American adults experiences serious mental illness each year. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is helping Idahoans address their mental health through support groups, education and helplines.
"A big way that we can break down the barriers of stigma is by people reaching out and accessing resources when they need support because normalizing these conversations really makes it easier for the next person to reach out and access the support that they need," says Amber Leyba-Castle, aNAMI youth outreach coordinator.
More statistics from NAMI show how prevalent a problem mental illness is and a reminder you are not alone.
- 1 in 5 Americans experience mental illness each year
