Never getting Davante Adams-type money, Shannon Sharpe brutally roasts Odell Beckham Jr after
Odell Beckham Jr is all set to make a grand return to the NFL this season, after spending a whole year out of the game due to an Anterior cruciate ligament injury. The 30-year-old wide receiver suffered the heartbreaking injury during the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl LVI clash against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Since then he has spent time off the gridiron, although he was very close to returning last season. During the playoffs, Odell Beckham Jr attracted a lot of interest from numerous franchises and looked all set to be signed by either the Dallas Cowboys or his former franchise, the New York Giants.
However, it was revealed that the wide receiver wasn’t fit enough to become a part of the NFL back then, and his return had to be postponed. After a grueling rehabilitation period, Beckham Jr. recently held his private workout session, which was attended by 12 franchises.
The return though doesn’t appear to be as easy as it looked last season, with a potential mismatch of financial expectations between the player and one unnamed franchise that made an offer to sign him. Various reports around the NFL claimed that OBJ is looking for a contract worth $20 million, a number that is significantly high for someone coming back from an ACL injury.
Shannon Sharpe gave his input on Odell Beckham Jr wanting a $20 million contract
OBJ, however, refuted those rumors himself by taking to his official Twitter account. Surprised by those rumors, he wrote, “I’m just so confused where the quote is from me that said I want 20. All I’m sayin’ is 4 AIN’T enough.”
This has prompted a very big discussion amongst various NFL analysts, who tried to provide insight into the apparent $20 million contract demanded by Odell Beckham Jr. Former NFL wide receiver Shannon Sharpe joined in the conversation on the latest episode of Undisputed with Skip Bayless.
Sharpe was of the opinion that Odell would have been in a position to receive about a $13 million contract if he did not suffer the ACL tear during the Super Bowl in 2022 but wouldn’t be receiving anything in excess of that.
“If Odell didn’t get hurt in the Super Bowl, he would’ve gotten around $13M but he was never getting that Davante Adams-type money,” Sharpe said.
To compare the two wide receivers, Davante Adams signed a whopping $140 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders when he joined the franchise in 2022 from the Green Bay Packers.
